I am a former academic. Long ago, I had to travel far to find a committee gullible enough to grant me a PhD. Then I worked in Universities in three different continents using those credentials.

Later, I managed to finagle my way into the industry and have worked in various data/security roles. I like securing tightly regulated companies these days. My role turned from a highly technical one to a diplomatic one over the years, these days I do more negotiation and education than configuration.

When I am not at work, I am a part-time parent. In the rare moments left over, I burn through sci-fi and fantasy, hike until my legs give out, or drag the neighbors into board games. When the mood takes me, I also make nerdy things—small electronics, posters, and the occasional purity seal. There is a reason my fridge lasted as long as it did.
