A Walk Around Frederiksund – Observing USA Seen From Denmark

Went on a stroll around Frederiksund and the Roskilde fjord. The leaves were turning and it looked really beautiful.

I found yet another American inspired restaurant. This became a sort of a running joke between me and some of my friends. Danes really do have a fondness for America. They truly believed that they were equal partners and an important ally to USA. I found it a bit surprising as coming from US, the only people that had a vague idea of Denmark’s existence were Berniebros. I think that is why when Trump keeps harping on about taking Greenland, it feels like such a betrayal for Danes.

From an outsider perspective, it feels a bit naive this fondness, and the hurt they feel. USA really does have a very positive image here and this is their first brush with this side of the empire. Danes talk proudly about the troops they deployed to fight in American wars in Afghanistan and in Iraq. Overlooking that those wars were perhaps not too different from what US has in mind for Greenland.

I meant to post a brief note about the hike, but the Route 66 Burger Cafe sort of derailed my train of thought.

    Camino Didn’t Fix Me

My ex met her ex on the Camino… I always thought it was the most romantic thing ever. So, about a year and a half ago, I started planning to do the Camino. I figured out my leave from work, bought plane tickets, gathered the equipment I needed over time, and trained with weighted backpacks on long country roads… Yesterday, I returned home.
