Patch Tuesdays Are Getting WIld

October Patch Tuesday saw over 1,400 vulnerabilities being patched. This is a new record. What makes it interesting is that it comes after new records in July and September. October alone has patched more vulnerabilities than all of 2025 (over 1,100).

I am quite skeptical of claims about AI, especially about business value. But this seems like a clear and obvious indicator of actual business value being generated by AI. Microsoft is not the only vendor pushing chunky patches. It seems the use of AI is improving the vulnerability discovery and patch cadence.

I still am not fully convinced that everything AI companies promised us will come to pass, but I can see a sea change in security.
